March Scholarship Deadlines:

​Lionel High School Chemistry Scholarship
This national scholarship offers renewable $4000 per year for four years of study in a chemistry related program. Key criteria include academic achievement and financial need. 
Deadline: March 1, Yearly (if March 1st is a weekend day, it reverts to the next working day)

The Co-operative Housing Federation of BC (CHF BC) Scholarship Fund
The purpose of this scholarship is to support the educational goals of young co-op members who are making a contribution to their communities.  The maximum award is $5,000.  Scholarship winners will receive $2,000 in their first year of study and $1,000 each year thereafter for up to four years of study.    
Applicants must:
  • Live in a CHF BC member housing co-op
  • Plan to attend a Canadian, publicly-funded, accredited college, university or government-approved apprenticeship program on a full-time basis
  • Be making a positive contribution to their school, co-op, OR community
  • Demonstrate financial need

Sooke Teachers' Association Scholarships 
Seven scholarships of $1000 each are available to students of the Sooke School District who are planning to attend full-time post-secondary school. In addition to an application form, students must also submit a resume and their transcript.   Please note that three of the 7 awards are reserved for students whose parents are members of the Sooke Teachers' Association and one of the 7 scholarships is reserved for an Indigenous student. See the application for more detail.  Shortlisted students will be interviewed in May to assist with making the final selection of winners.

RE/MAX 2023 Quest for Excellence
The Quest for Excellence Program recognizes the pursuits in leadership and community contributions of Western Canadian students. High school students graduating in 2021 from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon and Northwest Territories are encouraged to write an essay to convey the contributions they have made to enrich the lives of others and their communities through leadership, motivation, volunteering and participation in charitable events or fundraising.

Daneen Skilling Scholarship for Studies in Occupational Health
This  scholarship of $2,500 is offered by the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC to a student enrolling in an Occupational Health and Safety program. A secondary practicum opportunity is included in this scholarship following successful completion of studies. Applicants will submit an essay of 750 to 1,200 words explaining why workplace health and safety is important to them, and why they are pursuing this course of study.

Girl Guides of Canada
Scholarships are open to members who are pursuing post-secondary education at a recognized college, university or trades program. Scholarships are available for both full-time and part-time studies.

Power Pioneers Community Service Award
The BC Hydro Power Pioneers are recognizing youth who have excelled in community service. There are twenty $500 awards available throughout British Columbia. We’re looking for students who have made outstanding contributions in their local community for a considerable amount of time or have initiated, organized or contributed significantly to a one–time project.

Junior Achievement BC  Award for Oratory and Presentation Skills
This $2500 award is offered to students who have participated in a Junior Achievement program through one of their classes within the last 5 years. You must prepare a speech and provide a written version and a video of it. You also must be able to attend the gala event in Vancouver on May 14 to deliver your speech.

BC Retired Principals’ and Vice-Principals’ Association (BCRPVPA) Awards
Up to seven $1000 bursaries/scholarships are awarded to students who are continuing their education at an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada. (Those planning a “gap year” should apply in the first year in which they register in a post-secondary program.) Students who are pursuing education in trades, technical, and career fields, as well as those entering universities and colleges, are encouraged to apply. Applicants will be judged on their academic achievements and demonstrated leadership and service activities both within the school and community. Financial need will also be considered.

Jamie-Lynn Robertson Memorial Bursary
This award will be presented to a student whose life has been impacted by epilepsy. This award will not be granted based on academic achievement, but the recipient must demonstrate financial need and submit a 300-word essay on how epilepsy has impacted their life.
 Additionally, a student must:                      
  • Be between 17-19 years of age entering into college or university studies in a BC post-secondary institution.
  • A Canadian citizen.
  • Become a member of The Center for Epilepsy and Seizure Education British Columbia.

Victoria Diocesan Catholic Women's League Bursary
This $500 or $750 scholarship is awarded to children or grandchildren of members of the Catholic Church in the Victoria Diocese. Applicants should be members of the Catholic Church as well and be able to have their parish priest sign the form.

Vancouver Island University (VIU)  Entrance  Scholarships, President's and Chancellor's Entrance Scholarships 
These scholarships and awards are available to graduating Grade 12 students beginning studies at VIU within the coming year. Endorsement forms for the VIU President's and VIU Chancellor's Entrance scholarships must be completed and submitted by school Principals. Schools may submit one nomination for the President's and one nomination for the Chancellor's scholarships if there are qualifying students for each.

Junior Achievement BC Award for Oratory and Presentation Skills
This award recognizes achievement in the development of speaking and presentation skills. This year, four students will be awarded $2,500 each to further their post-secondary education. Award winners will present their speeches at the annual Business Laureates of British Columbia Hall of Fame Gala.  To be eligible, students must have participated in JA Company Program, JA Titan (prior to 2020) or JA Be Entrepreneurial in the last five years.

​Jim Hebden Chemistry Bursary
This $1000 bursary is usually awarded to someone who can demonstrate a formidable financial need. This effectively eliminates students with very high GPAs as they will almost certainly receive scholarships.  
Selection criteria: 
1)  has performed service for his/her school or community
2)  demonstrated a proficiency in Chemistry
3)  can show significant financial need
4)  must have Chem 12 completed by the end of June of graduating year
5)  planning to continue the study of chemistry as part of his/her post-secondary program e.g. a chemistry degree OR a  degree in a field involving chemistry e.g. nursing, engineering...

Principals and Vice-Principals Association (BCPVPA) Scholarships 
Scholarships, in the amount of $1000 each, are awarded annually to students who are graduating from the BC public school system and proceeding to a post-secondary institution.
  • Up to 10 scholarships are reserved for the sons and daughters of BCPVPA members.
  • Up to 10 scholarships are reserved to other graduating students.
  • Up to 2 scholarships will be awarded to Aboriginal students.
All applicants will be judged on academic excellence and demonstrated leadership within the school and community.

BC School Superintendents Association (BCSSA)  

Students  wishing  to  be  considered  for  a  scholarship  must  be  currently enrolled  in  their  final  year  of  studies  at  a  public  secondary  school  in BC and  be expected  to  graduate  in  June  2023.  The scholarship committees will consider demonstrated exemplary service and leadership within the school and community.  One  winner will  be  chosen  from  each  of  the  six  BCSSA  provincial  chapters  (Fraser Valley,  Kootenay-Boundary,  Metro,  Vancouver  Island,  Northern, Thompson-Okanagan).    Each  winner  will  be  awarded  a  $1,000 scholarship.

BC Soccer Association Scholarship
BC Soccer annually awards $1000 scholarships to players and referees proceeding on to their post-secondary education. Applications must be signed off by a Youth District Soccer Association Chairperson or an Adult League President.

Rocky Point Bird Observatory Award 
Three scholarships of $500.00 will be presented to graduating, full-time high school students of School Districts 61, 62 and 63 who intend to pursue a career that supports bird and/or environmental conservation. Please note that use of these funds is not restricted to post-secondary costs and may be used to further learning in a conservation-related activity.

Westshore Community Response Network
This $250 fellowship award will be presented to a graduating, full-time high school student of School District 62, who intends to pursue a career that supports the elderly and/or the aging process. Please not that the sue of these funds is not restricted to post-secondary costs and may be used to further learning in a care-giving career. 
Applicants must submit the following:
1. Cover letter The letter must explain how the student meets the eligibility criteria, and must include answers to the following questions (500 words maximum):
         ● What is ageism and how does it affect life in the West Shore communities?
         ● What is an example of a positive change that could be made in the West Shore communities to improve the lives of our elderly residents?
2. Two letters of recommendation: one from a teacher, school counsellor, mentor, or volunteer supervisor, and one from outside of the school community such as a connection through work or extra-curricular activities.
3. A resume. ​

The Trevor Linden Community Spirit Scholarship
This $2500 Scholarship recognizes four student leaders in the province of British Columbia who are entering their first year of post-secondary education, are in good academic standing and have made exceptional contributions in the following areas: School and community service, leadership, initiating community development, affecting positive change, mentoring others, personal development and growth, and good academic performance.

The Union of National Employees
The Union of National Employees offers a yearly $1000 bursary to one BC high school student. Applicants must complete the application form and submit a 1200 to 1500-word essay detailing how the union movement has "helped to build the social values that Canadians hold dear".

Fourteen scholarships, totaling $15,000, are offered in the areas of athletics, community service, academic excellence, overcoming adversity, etc.  Students apply directly through the University of Victoria or Camosun College websites.
